Are all people welcome in this congregation?
We strive to celebrate diversity while respecting and welcoming all people.
What do adults wear on Sunday morning?
You are welcome to come in whatever makes you comfortable. In general you will find people in business casual attire, but on any given Sunday you will find men in jeans, men in suit and tie, and everything in between. You will find women in jeans, slacks, skirts, blouses, sweaters, and dresses.
What do children wear?
Children should be dressed casually so they can fully participate in their religious education classes. Activities may include sitting on the floor, working on art projects, and outdoor active play.
What goes on during the Sunday services?
Services vary widely, but consistently include readings, music, moments of silence, sharing of milestones, and a message presented by the minister, a member of the congregation, or a guest speaker.
What time is your Sunday Service?
The service starts at 10:30 and finishes at 11:30. You are encouraged to come a little early the first time you visit so greeters can help you get oriented to the facility. This is especially important if you have children. A greeter can show you where your childrens classes are held, and you can help them feel more comfortable in their new environment.
What kind of programming is available for my children?
Childcare is available for your baby or toddler (up to age 3 =) from 10:15 to
11:45. Children in pre-school through 5th grade are in the sanctuary with their
families for the first part of the Sunday Service. They leave for their classes
10 or 15 minutes into the service, and classes last until 10:30. Youth from 6th
grade up have classes from 10:30 to 11:30 each Sunday. See the Religious
Education section of the web site for more information.
Are there young adults in the church?
Yes, we have an active Young Adult Group for people ages 18-35. They meet weekly for movie watching, potluck dinners, board games, and conversation.
Is this church accessible to all people?
Yes, there are handicapped parking places right outside the front door, and there is a level entry into the building. Handicapped restrooms are available in our new Religious Education Building. All facilities are at ground level.
How can I get answers to my questions about your church?
Our members are very open and friendly. On Sunday you can ask a greeter or the
person sitting next to you in the service. There is a Visitor Information Center
located near the coffee after the service, and this is a place to pick up printed
information and visit with members who will be anxious to help you find answers
to your questions. Twice a year, we offer a newcomer orientation series called "Getting
to Know UU." This is an opportunity to learn about Unitarian Universalism and
get to know other newcomers. Of course, you also can contact us by phone or e-mail at
anytime.
How do I get to your church?
We are on North Vasco Road in Livermore. See the
Map of Area to get a map and driving directions. We are on the
east side of Vasco and at the north end of the commercial area.
How can I find out more about Unitarian Universalism as a religious denomination?
Visit the website for the Unitarian Universalist
Association at www.uua.org. There is a special visitor section that we hope will be helpful.
How can I find out more about activities outside of Sunday Services?
There is a "Sampler of Activities and
Opportunities at UUCiL" available at the Visitor Information Center,
or it will be sent to you upon request. Much of this information is available
on this web site at the Activities link.
If you want to make contact with someone regarding an activity, call or send
e-mail to the church office.
